Help strengthen local farms, highlight good policies, and protect Connecticut’s agricultural economy.

In January 2026, over 100 Connecticut farmers gathered at the Legislative Offices for a Farm Forum to speak directly about PA 490 and farm viability issues. Attendees represented operations of all sizes and regions, from multi-generational farms on productive soils to smaller farms on marginal land.

The forum was a powerful demonstration that farmers are engaged, united, and vocal. Participants shared firsthand accounts of rising tax assessments, escalating costs, and the challenges of keeping farms operational in today’s economic climate.

The message to state leadership was clear: “We are here, we see you, and we’re not going anywhere.” Farmers called for transparent processes, fair assessments, and meaningful inclusion in decision-making regarding policies that directly impact their livelihoods and the future of Connecticut agriculture.

The event underscored the growing momentum of a statewide coalition committed to protecting working farms, preserving generational knowledge, and ensuring the state’s farmland remains economically viable.
