A farmer finally wins one for all farmers in the state

Thanks to the enduring work of farmer Will Dellacamera, who drove his tractor across Connecticut and hundreds of miles down to D.C. to get the attention of the USDA for farmers affected by the storms in 2023 and 2024 that devastated crops. It's been a long road, but thanks to Rosa DeLauro and her team working for nearly two years alongside Will, the effort helped secure a vital block grant designed to reach diversified crop farms, large and small, that crop insurance alone often leaves short. The U.S. Department of Agriculture approved a $52.9 million Farm Recovery and Support Block Grant for Connecticut farmers who suffered production losses from severe weather during 2023 and 2024. The funding is part of a nationwide $220 million program created by Congress to assist smaller agricultural states.
